The national NET Activity “Training for Mentors” is organized by the Hellenic National Agency of Eramsus+ / Youth and European Solidarity Corps Programmes, from 22 – 30.06 online.

What is this course about

The role of mentors in European Solidarity Corps’ (ESC) projects will be explored and highlighted in this course.

Mentoring is a personal support measure for all participants in volunteering activities, as mentioned in the Guide and thus no young volunteer should remain unsupported or be provided with insufficient mentoring services. Competence development for mentors through training and peer-sharing is the main building block of this course.

This educational activity takes the form of an online training course, hosted in the ‘HOP Online Learning Platform’, which provides participants with a media-rich environment to further their learning.

What is the aim

To enable competence development in mentoring, through enhanced modes of training delivery and also through sharing, exchange and the construction of common understanding and goals among mentors in Greece, in view of improved future synergies and networking.

What are the objectives

The objectives of this online training course are:

  • To better understand the European Solidarity Corps Programme and more specifically, the differences between volunteering and other strands of the Programme
  • To build a common understanding of quality aspects in volunteering within the European Solidarity Corps Programme.
  • To offer space and support for the development of a national network/pool of mentors, who will continue cooperating with the Hellenic National Agency, as a means to improve overall quality in volunteering activities at national level.
  • To develop participants’ competences in areas such as: learning guidance and facilitation, communication and active listening, goal setting and monitoring, change and growth management, thus improving their role and service as mentors
  • To facilitate exchange between the Hellenic National Agency and the mentors and also among the mentors themselves, as a means to improve trust, understanding and connection.

What is the participants’ profile

Whether you are a newcomer in mentoring volunteers or you have a long-held experience, this offer is for you! This is not a course to check qualifications; on the contrary, it is an opportunity to develop, exchange and grow personally but also as a community. There is much learning, inspiring stories and comfort to be found among your peers!
